I’m Lyn Hrivnak (riv’ nak). As a lactation consultant in private practice, I provide both virtual and in-home professional breastfeeding support. My expertise includes a focus on understanding newborn behavior to help mothers achieve their breastfeeding goals. As an IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) since 2008, and an RN for over 25 years, I’ve helped thousands of mothers and babies with breastfeeding challenges.
The IBCLC credential is the Gold Standard for professional lactation support. I’m a member of both the International Lactation Consultants Association and the United States Lactation Consultants Association.
On a personal note, I was able to successfully breastfeed both of my children for over a year. When they were born, breastfeeding was not very popular. I had never even seen a mom breastfeed, and there was very little breastfeeding support. I found a circle of experienced breastfeeding moms at a local La Leche League chapter that helped me learn to breastfeed.
When I became a grandmother (Nana) in 2007, my daughter, like many new moms, had some breastfeeding difficulty. She sought the help of a private practice lactation consultant near her home in Boston, and was able to breastfeed her firstborn successfully for over a year. She has has gone on to breastfeed all of her children, including a set of twins!
The support of an IBCLC meant so much to my daughter! That’s why I decided to devote myself to becoming one. Now I provide the same kind of expert breastfeeding support to mothers every day!
I live in coastal Georgia with my wonderful husband and our furbaby, Wally. We have seven beautiful and brilliant breastfed grandchildren in our blended family, and expect we may be blessed with a few more. In our spare time, we go RV camping together. I’m learning to play the fiddle, and enjoy good Bluegrass Gospel music.
